Rostislav Gorelov (1916—2004). Camp Sketches Online Exhibition
In 1933, 28 young people were arrested in Moscow and the Moscow Region. They were accused of being members of the Russian Patriots Union, a pro-Nazi terrorist group. Rostislav Gorelov, a seventeen-year-old student, was among those arrested. His series of paintings is included in the museum collection. The paintings illustrate the typical situation faced by detainees through the story of one prisoner, including his arrest, interrogation, time in prison, guarded transportation, life in the camp barracks and visits to the infirmary.
